Ken Livingstone supports and advocates the killing of Israelis 'as a duty'.
By Barry Shaw
Those who clearly understand the ambitions of radical Islam know that one of their targets is the eradication of the Jewish state of Israel.
They see it as an abomination. They see the existence of Israel as an insult to Muslims everywhere. They portray Israel as occupying Muslim land.
It is in this context that the 'virtues' of Palestinian suicide bombers and killers of innocent Israelis came up at a recent conference of leading Islamic clerics and scholars, held at the Egyptian town of Sharm-el-
Sheikh on 22nd August this year.
One of the conclusions of this conference was that killing Israelis was not a right, but a duty for all Muslims.
Speaker after speaker excused, interpreted, and encouraged the ongoing murder of Israelis in the name of Islam.
Referring to Israel, leading clerics declared that it was the right of any Muslim to kill himself 'defending their
homeland'. This is a signal to kill Israelis as Israel is seen, in Islamic eyes, as occupying Palestinian land.
The views, however radical, were topped by Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi.
Qaradawi is the Muslim cleric who has been invited to preach in British mosques by Ken Livingstone, the Marxist Mayor of London.
Days before this conference, Livingstone declared himself fully behind the radical views of Qaradawi. In a TV interview, Livingstone declared himself to be supportive of Qaradawi and Palestinian suicide bombers. He has long been an advocate of this brand of radical Islam.
His political stand, therefore, must be challenged over the fact that Qaradawi declared that it is not only the right but, in fact, the duty of all Muslims to kill Israelis.
At the conference Qaradawi declared, " I think that saying it is a legitimate right is not enough, because a right is something that can be relinquished. It is a duty. All scholars say that defending an occupied homeland is an individual duty applying to every Muslim. Reducing this duty to a 'right,' which can be relinquished, is a kind of depreciation"
He went on, " "We must stress this point, and emphasize that it is the rights of those defending their homeland. It is not only a right, but also their duty. I am amazed by what Dr. Muhammad Rafat 'Othman and other have said."
When Livingstone made an earlier statement that Palestinians do not have warplanes and tanks and an explosive belt is the only weapon at their disposal, he was echoing the words of radical Qaradawi who, at the conference, repeated his interpretation of suicide bombers.
"This has nothing to do with suicide. This man does not want to commit suicide, but rather to cause great damage to the enemy, and this is the only method he can use to cause such damage."
"We may find rulings about plunging into the [ranks of the] enemy and risking one's life, even in cases of certain death – so be it. The truth is that we should refrain from raising this issue, because doubting it is like joining the Zionists and Americans in condemning our brothers in Hamas, the Jihad, the Islamic factions, and the resistance factions in Iraq. It is as if we are joining them."
The Islamic conference on a hot summers day on the Red Sea exposed Sheikh al-Qaradawi to be one of the most extreme leading Islamic scholars.
Yet, people like Livingstone would have you beliee that he is a moderate.
Be very clear by the message sent out by leading 'moderate' Islamic clerics at Sharm-el-Sheikh, and advocated by the Mayor of London.
a) Israel is occupied land.
b) It is the duty of all Muslims to kill Israelis.
c) Suicide bombings is one option until the Palestinians are armed with warplanes and tanks.
