HBO, NYTimes glorify suicide bomber
Friends,
The attempted car-bombings in Britain, which thank God
didn't succeed, only underline the ostrich-stance of the
press in condemning terrorism, and the resultant spread of
this scrouge across the planet. The New York Times and HBO
continue this pattern. The HBO film "Hothouse" about
Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons was
publicized in the Times with an attractive smiling photo of
a woman prisoner, Ahlam Tamimi. What the Times forgot to
mention is that Ms. Tamimi smuggled a guitar case filled
with explosives into Jerusalem, which her partner detonated
in the Sbarro Pizza parlor, killing 15 people and maiming
100, mostly women and children. One of them was 15 year-old
Malki Roth. Malki's father Arnold was outraged. So am I.
Below, Arnold's letter to the Times and information on how
you can write them as well to express your disgust at the
picture and the words of the Times reviewer who said he felt
" by the end of 'Hot House' you may feel more than a little
annoyance at the two sides in this endless conflict."
Annoyance? With both sides? Gee, somehow I don't think
"annoyed" is the right word for how we should feel about
Palestinian murderers who blow up people in pizza parlors,
even if they are photogenic and well-fed by the Israeli
prison system. I think Ms. Tamimi should have been fried in
an electric chair, instead of bathed in the glow of
photographic lights. But that's just silly me.
If you are boiling mad, as I was after reading the article
below, you can write to the NY Times at: letters@nytimes.com
